Professional Installation: The Foundation of Long-Lasting Pavers

Beautiful pavers start with what you cannot see: proper base preparation and expert installation. We never cut corners on the foundation work because we know that shortcuts lead to problems like sinking, shifting, and premature failure. When we install your walkway or driveway, we build it to last for decades with minimal maintenance.

Excavation and Base Construction

First, we excavate the area to the proper depth. Driveways typically need deeper excavation than walkways because they must support vehicle weight. We remove unstable soil and create a level base. Then we install geotextile fabric to prevent weeds and maintain base stability.

Next comes the aggregate base, usually six to eight inches of crushed stone for driveways and four to six inches for walkways. We compact this base in layers using professional equipment. Each layer must be perfectly compacted before adding the next. Proper compaction prevents settling and keeps your pavers level for years to come. Finally, we add a layer of bedding sand, screed it perfectly level, and compact it.

Paver Installation and Finishing

With the base prepared, we carefully lay each paver according to your chosen pattern. We maintain consistent spacing and cut edge pieces precisely for a professional appearance. Edge restraints are installed around the perimeter to keep everything locked in place. Without proper edge restraint, pavers gradually spread and create gaps.

The final step is sweeping polymeric sand into all the joints. This special sand contains polymers that activate when wet, binding the pavers together and preventing weed growth. We compact the pavers one final time, add more joint sand, and clean the entire surface. Your new walkway or driveway is ready to use immediately with no curing time required.
